12 Solutions to ICD-11’s Disorders

ICD-11 was the first update in over two decades to the World Health Organization’s (WHO) recently released edition of the International Classification of Diseases (ICD-11).  The release was presented at World Health Assembly on May 25, 2019 for adoption by member states, and will come into effect on January 1, 2022.   It is still unknown as of this writing when ICD-11 will be ready for implementation in the United States.  The U.S. has its own criteria called DSM-5, but does plan to implement the worldwide standards eventually.  There are many disease classes in the medical field.  I will focus on the category of ‘mental disorders.’

If you think I write long documents, you should try sifting through the 100’s of pages of categories for all the variations of disorders and how the international group of medical experts decided after many years to choose what to call every disease and disorder and all that.  Nowhere did I find solutions to the problems.

Today on 2-12-22 I was inspired from the exciting reading on the topic to provide a solution or two.

First, anyone in the medical field dealing with coding and diagnoses would quickly find out that it is not my area of expertise, nor do I want it to be.  However, I have been involved in various capacities in pro-bono counseling for years.  Actually, I do not think I can technically call it pro-bono since I have zero credentials, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn once.  Disorder diagnoses came up often in trying to help people that could not afford professional help but were willing to talk to somebody with a listening ear and packed with self-help experience and stories worth talking about.

I also have fought with insurance companies enough to know that if the psych or doctor’s office codes something wrong, they will not pay for anything.  I like being in the ‘counseling’ for free business because I love giving advice and helping people.   I believe I give darned good advice.  My price cannot be beat free, and there is no additional cost for sarcasm and dry humor.

If you are interested in more info on the coding and diagnoses stuff, I looked up about 20 articles to pen the partially plagiarized first paragraph.  This source (verywellmind.com) helped tremendously in understanding ICD 10&11, DSM 5, and the purpose of my writing today – how the many disorders were named and classified.  The list is long.  Each of the sub-categories, and how they determine the severity of each, is extremely complex.  ICD Overview and Listing details from the below,   Personality Disorders, and   Addiction Criteria.

List of Disorders per the WHO
  • Attention Deficit Disorder
  • Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Anxiety or fear-related disorders
  • Catatonia
  • Complex PTSD
  • * Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder
  • This one had an * ‘It is classified as an impulse control disorder rather than an addictive disorder.  Seriously.

  • Disorders due to substance use or addictive behaviors
  • Disorders specifically associated with stress
  • Disruptive behavior or dissocial disorders
  • Dissociative disorders
  • Elimination disorders
  • Factitious disorders
  • Feeding or eating disorders
  • Gaming Disorder

  • Obsessive-compulsive or related disorders
  • Paraphilic disorders
  • Personality disorders (there is a whole ‘cluster of these) and related traits
  • Prolonged Grief Disorder
  • Schizophrenia or other primary psychotic disorders

I guessed there were a lot of them. Still, I did not realize that so many seemingly controllable problems could be categorized as disorders.  Just stopping playing video games seems like an easy solution rather than categorizing a person as having a disorder requiring counseling, medication, and other highly paid professional advice to solve the problem of playing too many video games.  Some are of course, much more serious.  There are many, many books, websites, and professional or non-professional’s available to help with each of these issues.  This writing cannot possibly provide all the answers for the body and soul or mind.

But here on 2-12-22, the day after 2-11, I have some numbers related and spiritual side topics to present.  If this little bit of possible hyperbole was enough for you, have a great day.  If you really came here for the spiritual side, next time, skip part one if you want, your choice.  Either way, to get to part 2, hit that red button and pop into Average Joe’s Portico.

#11 in Biblical numerology references means chaos and disorder and adds in judgment.  Numbers oriented people pay attention when they see the clock saying 11:11 or a license number with a bunch of ones.  When the number 11 keeps appearing, it may mean it is a solid warning to get some things in your life straightened out.  It could also warn that someone you are dealing with needs to be dealt with very cautiously.  While it may be negative, it can also be positive.  A ‘saved’ person knows they will be spared of eternal judgment and head to the gates of heaven after death.

11 is followed by, (educated people will notice) the #12, which is God’s divine order under His control and authority.   It is a very good thing to know in the midst of chaos and disorder that you can trust the One who is in control, to put it back in order.  Often times it may mean being patient and waiting because you can count on the fact that ‘God’s got this.’ In other times, noticing the chaos means God is sending a message to step up our game.  A few people think I have lost my marbles for posting these numbers messages; I am stepping up the game and rejecting what people think.   When you have a stroke and nearly die, you kind of get an attitude to erase what other people think about you.  If you were unaware click here   for the miraculous story.

Twelve makes sense to be represented as Divine order as the Old Testament references the 12 tribes of Israel named after Jacob’s 12 sons.  Jesus had 12 close disciples.   When Judas committed suicide after the chaos and disorder that ensued surrounding Jesus’ death, one of the first things they did was to replace Judas.  Having 12 Apostles was the initial perfectly designed by Jesus in order number to start the real church of Christ.  These two slides give a picture story, and note the border.  12’s just fit perfectly for so many things and that was some great work using Canva by this author trying to compete (not so well) against his son who graduated in the top of his class as a graphics designer, wasn’t it?  You can catch this whole set of all the numbers 1-22 on my Instagram page Here.

The following slide shows how the Bible weaves in numbers.  You would think the boring Bible as some call it would not bother to put hidden important messages throughout, would it?  Yet here we see lives that were in disorder were drastically changed when someone asked God to put it back in order.   Actually, they are not hidden.  People just need to pay closer attention to the details that God has carefully weaved into the Bible He wrote and provided for us.

God turns chaos and disorder into perfect order and shines on His divine Glory.

We know of the story in the New Testament how God used ICD-11’s disorder and provided a solution with His divine #12 related order. A hard example on restoring comes from a story about David from the Old Testament.  Order is important and when God trusts us, the expectation is we will follow orders lest things turn into chaos.  It is not that God wants to instill rules upon us, it is just better for us in every way.  We teach it to our kids, if you touch a hot stove, you will be burned.  If you walk into the street without looking, a car may hit you.    David was a King and it was prophesied that the Messiah, Jesus would come through his lineage, as He also said to Abraham.  It was a huge promise.  David was doing really well as King and leader of the government.  Then a #11 chaos and disorder event occurred.

We go to (perhaps coincidentally a #11 chapter)  2 Samuel 11 .  To get all the gory details read all of chapters 11 and 12.  Short version; we know David was taking a break from the battles (which is how we get ourselves into disorder as well) and saw a hot woman on the roof across the way.  He invited her over to his palace and did what he knew not to do, despite already having a hot wife who was the former king’s daughter.  She got pregnant (noting that took a while to find out so he thought he got away with the secret sin) and she told him about it.  They probably talked about abortion and who knows what else to cover it up.

So David thought he was slick and called her husband back from the battlefield to try to get him to sleep with her so they would not be found out.  But this guy Uriah was so righteous, he refused.  In the verse, 11:11 (I did not make up the numbers)  we see Uriah’s amazing loyalty to the King and country:  2 Samuel 11:11 “Uriah said to David, “The ark and Israel and Judah are staying in huts, and my lord Joab and the servants of my lord are camping in the open field.  Should I go to my house to eat and drink and lie with my wife?  By your life and the life of your soul, I will not do this thing.”

David’s plan did not work so he came up with something even more devious.  He sent Uriah, one of his best and most loyal soldiers, to the front lines of the war and he was killed.  David had him murdered to cover up the sin of the other sin.  Complete chaos and disorder.

In chapter 12, God sends a prophet named Nathan, who tells a story of a corrupt rich man who stole from a poor man and then hid his deeds, thinking he got away with it.  David listened to the story and was furious.  Then poor Nathan who had to tell this story to the corrupt King David, knees a knocking, told what he knew God sent him to tell:

2 Samuel 12: 5-11 “Then David’s anger burned intensely against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this deserves to die.  He shall make restitution for the ewe lamb four times as much [as the lamb was worth], because he did this thing and had no compassion.”

Then Nathan said to David, “You are the man!  Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘I anointed you as king over Israel, and I spared you from the hand of Saul.  I also gave you your master’s house, and put your master’s wives into your care and under your protection, and I gave you the house (royal dynasty) of Israel and of Judah; and if that had been too little, I would have given you much more!  Why have you despised the word of the Lord by doing evil in His sight?  You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife.  You have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites.  10 Now, therefore, the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised Me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ 11 Thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, I will stir up evil against you from your own household; and I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your companion, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight.

We know that later on David’s mistake was costly.  His own son tried to overthrow him as David’s mistakes turned his family into a dysfunctional one.  Ironically though, Bathsheba’s second son (after this child had died as a consequence of David’s ‘moral failure’) became the heir of David’s throne and built the Holy Temple David was supposed to build.  God stripped that honor away from him for this deed and gave it to Solomon instead.

Restoring order is not always an easy or pretty thing.  1 Samuel 12:12 (double order of #12’s) stated  Indeed you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel, and in broad daylight.”   As we operate in a world, abound with corruptness you might say yes, we needs God’s authority to clean up this disorder and chaos.  To do so would not be pretty but wouldn’t you rather have an open honest government versus what we have now?   Jesus came from David’s bloodline; He cleaned up the mess with His own blood.  He also had to have a virgin birth via Mary because the line was so unholy.  His 12 disciples had a bad apple, it was cleaned up quickly with Judas being replaced as the first task the disciples had on the docket after Jesus resurrection.

In the here and now, we can only do so much about the disorder in government; minimally vote, and do whatever else God calls you to do on those lines.

Our larger problem is all the disorders that plague us humans.  Having 12 disciples out of the many people Jesus affected took Him three years.  One of them totally failed and another denied Him and ran when the hard part came.  But God has commissioned us to take the Good News of salvation and healing to the world.

“And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.  16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.  17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 the will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18

Our task is to bring order to people’s lives and help them to remove the disorder from their lives.  Lay hands on the sick and bring recovery, cast out demons.  We are to be in the midst of the chaos and disorder and bring order to people’s lives.  Yes, I repeated that again.

Let us remove the mysticism of some of this.  In Luke chapter 11(chaos again) we see that difficult people were hanging out around Jesus.  We all at times are in situations with difficult people, correct?  We see them make comments on our social media pages, they are everywhere.  Jesus was not afraid to stand up to them.  Stop you who say it is not the Christian way to argue with people.  I am not saying go look for it and fight, but if you are speaking truth, people will disagree with you.  Do not hide in your house being afraid of them!  Do not avoid political rallies and protests in fear of people.  Put on your polite and kind hat and be involved if you are physically able.

In Luke 11:52-54 we see the end of a long conversation Jesus had with the lawmakers and groups creating rules and regulations contrary to, let’s call it the Bible.    “Woe to you lawyers!  For you have taken away the key of knowledge.  You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered.”  53 And as He said these things to them, the scribes and the Pharisees began to assail Him vehemently, and to cross-examine Him about many things, 54 lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch Him in something He might say, that they might accuse Him.”

In chapter 12:1   I always laugh as it says “In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, “Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy.  For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known.” Jesus was being ‘assailed vehemently’ for healing people and helping people to overcome their disorders.  The crowds were so big they were trampling over each other to receive His help.  I just love how couch Christians sit on the computer and criticize the people involved in healings saying stupid things like God stopped healing and miracles after the book of Acts.  Do you not know how many people have been pulled from their covid19 or cancer deathbeds and healed by God via Christians praying and laying hands on the sick following the Mark 16 command?

We have been commanded to do the same as Jesus.  Yet, due to government limitations and our own fears, we are reluctant to try.  Some of our own condemn those trying, ‘we should keep to ourselves and not offend’ those who have chosen to live a life of chaos.  It is their right to have an abortion, it is their right to protest/riot, they were born that way who are you to judge, and so on.   As a result, anything to do with God is now censored and the majority of elected positions and educators have commanded influence over most public institutions.

God had promised to provide a helper.  If you are afraid to talk with people in stressful situations, do not be.  God has promised help should you be in a situation you feel too inadequate handle.   It happens to have two twelve’s – When they bring you before the synagogues and the magistrates and the authorities, do not be worried about how you are to defend yourselves or what you are to say; for the Holy Spirit will teach you in that very hour what you ought to say.”  LUKE 12:11-12 AMP    Most of us may seldom be in before authorities but practically speaking this verse applies to the simplest or even rarest conversations.

I have a personal here-and-now story with numbers and all.  I was a volunteer counselor at a Help Pregnancy Center.   All of us had on-the-street experience being ‘assailed vehemently,’ at times.  But mostly, we helped Moms and Dads that walked into our facility needing help with a future or present baby situation.

A young man (only 21) visited with one baby underarm and another was on the way.  He told us (another counselor was with me) that death seems to follow him around and he was not sure how to deal with it.  He showed some tattoo’s that he not only created but also administered to himself (ouch – I translate that as dealing with pain in a not-so-good way).  The pain had come from a Father who abused him for years, but more so were three near-death experiences he had.  He told us the first was in high school when a friend died in his lap in a tragic car accident where he was seriously hurt but he survived.  The second was in another car accident where another friend died.  And the third was in a drive-by shooting where he also survived but witnessed another death of a friend.

I had a Luke 12:12 revelation (God gives us questions and words to say to people if we are listening)  and for some reason I asked if the name of the girl was ______.   I had walked thru a cemetery a few times and remembered the last name of a young girl.   Seriously, out of nowhere that thought came to my mind so I asked it.  The young man’s eyes grew about the size of a grapefruit and said, YES IT IS, how did you know that??     I knew at that moment God’s promised helper the Holy Spirit was heavy in this conversation.  (This was not my first time, this was and is a common thing)

The flow continued and my confidence that God’s presence was in the room was strong.  As we talked, the young man grew more open sharing the pain he felt with the memories and how it was causing him to be addicted to drinking and drugs.  He obviously had PTSD another disorder and who knows what else from all this trauma.   He then said a very strange thing that the last two death experiences happened on the same date.  He kept talking and the other gentleman with me was talking as well when I knew I had to blurt out what was on the end of my tongue.   I asked, ‘what was the date of the deaths.’    He said ‘the date was March 11th, why do you want to know.’

Now my eyes were the size of grapefruits.   March 11th, 2001 is the date that my sister was murdered in a domestic violence situation.   11 the number of chaos was always one that haunted my life, and here we sat in a conversation with so many odd twists and turns it seemed like a crazy dream.  God uses numbers and all sorts of things in the here and now for us to accomplish the tasks He has commissioned us to do.  If you are not seeing miracles or call it coincidences or providence like this, it is only because you are not participating by choice in the offer extended to you.  Or your belief system is lacking in some way.

The young man saw that our meeting together was no coincidence.  He made a choice that day to accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior.  For me, aside from being emotionally shaken by the amazing coincidence, was an answer to the fact, God can use any circumstance no matter how bad it is, and use it for good.

God will take those ICD-11 disorders and bring them back into order.  Casting out demons does not have to be an exorcism like you see in movies (although I have seen weird things like it).   In the case of this young man, we prayed that the tormenting memories he was dealing with would be removed from his mind.   In addition to him praying to receive Christ we laid hands on him for the PTSD to be healed and the tormenting spirits to be removed.    We know he walked out of the room a new man.

Unfortunately, he did not return for the much-needed follow-up, thus I do not know his current status.   While God can certainly do miracles and end any disorder in a person wanting His help, the next steps to keep well are necessary. In reality that young man was given the Holy Spirit and was now equipped with all the powerful faith he needs to overcome ALL of his disorders.  He however lacked the knowledge to fully believe that he had enough.  I am confident though that God is helping him, his girlfriend, and children to come to maturity.  As I pray for them whenever they come to mind.

Thus the divine order of God is needed to develop a new life to the fullest.  If you recall the story of the 10 lepers where only one of the 10 returned to give thanks to Jesus all had one disorder healed.  But only the one got ‘fully healed’ on the outside and inside.  When a person becomes born-again and receives the gift of the Holy Spirit they have immediate faith power installed.  But, if they do not read the manual to hear about all the features and how to use them, than it will only help in part.

That is why churches and other Christians working together are needed.  That is why leaders like the group of 12 Apostles to manage it all are needed.  Complete order requires following the recommendations in the leadership manual.  In the #12 Divine Order, God’s governmental Authority – the manual is the Bible.  I am sure that young man had more issues than just PTSD and bad memories, since he was in a pregnancy center with his unmarried girlfriend and another baby on the way, there most likely was more chaos and disorder to overcome.  It takes time to completely be healed, so please don’t think that a one-time sit-down meeting is the only thing needed, but it definitely is a great starting point.

Regardless of what stage of life you are in all of us have some variation of a few or maybe many disorders to deal with.  The ICD-11 list is long and the solutions to try to solve them are vast, but do they really work?   I happen to firmly believe the best solution to every disorder is the #12 – God’s authority and power will bring divine order to your life.  It may not be pretty and your consequences from previous chaos do not go away immediately.  But follow the whole guidance book, keep to it to avoid new chaos like David did, and take those 11’s and turn them into perfect orderly 12’s.
